School Resumes Wednesday

Dear Families,

As the forecast looks more and more favorable for our area, we have opted to resume classes on Wednesday on our normal schedule. There is still a potential for wind gusts and rain which we sometimes see causing short power outages in our area. If we do happen to lose power in excess of an hour, we may have to dismiss early. If so, we will send phone and text alerts to you.

We are optimistic that any impact from Hurricane Dorian will be minimal here and pray that those closer to the storm are not significantly affected.

We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Yours in service,

Visvambhara Dasa
Head of School

Hurricane Dorian Closure Notice

Dear Families,

Alachua County public schools will be closed on Tuesday, September 3 in anticipation of high winds and rain from Hurricane Dorian. Although storm forecasts continue to show the hurricane tracking east, we are also closing to ensure the safety of all our families and staff.

We will conduct an evaluation once the storm has past us. Resumption of school will depend on several factors:
  • Extent of any damage to buildings/facilities
  • Amount of debris clean up required
  • Availability of running water (the New Raman Reti Temple has a generator that powers auxiliary wells)
  • Resumption of electrical power or setup of alternative electrical sources
  • Availability of teaching staff
We certainly hope the impact of the storm is minimal for Bhaktivedanta Academy, our families, our staff, and our greater community. We will do our very best to keep you all updated as much as possible once we know.

Please be on the lookout for emails, phone calls and/or text messages from the school. In the meantime I pray for everyone’s safety and well-being. Wishing you all the very best.

Yours in service,

Visvambhara Dasa
Head of School
