Save the Date - Holiday Fundraiser Production/Sales 

Dear Parents,

Thank you to the parents who attended Friday's holiday fundraiser planning meeting. 

As in prior years we will be producing and selling fudge and cookies.  A sample ad is below:

This is our second biggest fundraiser of the year, which funds the majority of our classroom book and material purchases. This year, we are looking to use a portion of the funds raised to purchase a comprehensive Spanish language curriculum for the entire school.  Last year we sold over $4,000 worth of treats and don't see why we can't do just as good this year…possibly better.

 

We will have 2 production weekends:

• Friday/Saturday, December 9th/10th
• Friday/Saturday, December 16th/17th

Sales tables will run at the New Raman Reti temple Sunday Feast on:

• Sunday, December 4th
• Sunday, December 11th
• Sunday, December 18th (if needed)

To be successful, we really need the involvement of all our parents.  This is a great way to do something good for the school, your children, and to meet and interact with other parents. So please keep the production and sales dates in mind while planning for the month of December.  A volunteer sign-up form will go online soon.

Shop and Earn for Bhaktivedanta Academy

As the holiday shopping period approaches, I wanted to remind all our parents that Bhaktivedanta Academy is a participant in Target's Take Charge of Education program. You can designate our school to receive 1% of all your Target credit or debit card purchases in the form of an annual check from Target.

If you have a Target credit or debit card you can designate our school by:

1. Visiting www.target.com/tcoe
2. Clicking the Enroll link
3. Entering our Target School ID: 152289

If you don't have a Target credit or debit card, you can get one and save 5% on all your purchases. 1% of everything you buy at Target using the card will be donated to Bhaktivedanta Academy.

We currently have 4 families enrolled and have already earned $25 in just a few months.  This is a simple and easy way to support the school, which also saves you money via the 5% discount on all in-store purchases.

Please also pass this along to grandparents and friends so they can join in support of Bhaktivedanta Academy.

 

Holiday Fundraiser Meeting

It has now come to that time of year again when we are preparing for the Holiday Fundraiser. Every year we make Chocolate Fudge and Russian Tea Cakes, nicely packaged in a tin, to sell to the community as a means for raising funds for the school. Last year we sold more then $4000 worth of prasadam treats over two weekends!

This year, we are hoping to sell even more and apply some of these funds to a wonderful new Spanish curriculum program for the entire school.

For this to happen, we really need the help and involvement of as many parents as possible! If you are new to the school this year, or if you have been with us for a few years, we really encourage you to participate. This is a great way to do something good for the school, your children, and to meet and interact with other parents. So please, volunteer!

The HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER meeting will be this Friday, November 18th from 2:15-3:00pm. Aftercare will be provided free of charge to meeting participants.

At this meeting we will discuss ideas and plans for this year and different tasks and duties that need be performed.

Thanksgiving Potluck Sign-up

Bhaktivedanta Academy's annual Thanksgiving Day Potluck is Wednesday, November 23rd. Our students share a wonderful Thanksgiving style feast with prasadam preparations brought from home on this day.

Please sign-up online for the preparation you can provide.

We are also looking for a few parent volunteers to help with the setup and serve out. Please let us know at office@bhaktivedantaacademy.org or 386-462-2886 if you can help.

Morning Drop-Off

As many of you have noticed, the parking lot is getting very congested in the morning. To ensure a safe and orderly flow of traffic we request that all parents of children in kindergarten through 6th grade use the marked drop-off circle in the morning. Weather permitting, the drop-off is open from 7:50 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and is staffed by someone who will greet and escort your child from their car.

Please remember to adhere to the following guidelines while driving within the school parking lot or drive-through:

• Do not use a cellular phone (even hands free) during drop-off and pick-up.
• Keep your speed to a maximum of 15 m.p.h. on the road leading to the school parking area and 5 m.p.h. within the lot.
• Don’t park in a handicap parking space unless you have a handicap placard.
• Refrain from lingering in the drive-through or at the parking lot entrance or exit. If you wish to speak with someone or want to get out of your car for any reason, please park in a designated parking space.
• While walking within the parking lot, always keep your children by your side, and don't allow them to run ahead.

We appreciate your support in making the morning drop-off as smooth and safe as possible.
