Dear Families:

Students in grade 3 or higher will be taking the Stanford Achievement Test, Tenth Edition (SAT-10), during the week of May 9. The SAT-10 is a norm-referenced achievement test that   measures math, reading, and language skills. The results will be sent home for your review after the tests are processed and scored by Pearson Assessments.

Attendance is extremely important during this week. If there is a circumstance that will prevent your child from attending school please contact the school office.

During test week please help your children be at their best by:

  • Arriving at school by 8:00 a.m.;
  • Getting a minimum of 8 hours of sleep;
  • Eating a healthy breakfast;
  • Bringing 1 or 2 books they can read;
  • Ensuring they are relaxed and free from other worries.

Mother's Day Invitation

All our mothers are invited to come to Bhaktivedanta Academy on Friday, May 6, for our annual Mother's Day. We have special activities planned and welcome the opportunity for students to share their class with their moms.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Bhakti Bhavan - 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
  • Audarya Bhavan - 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
  • Madhurya Bhavan - 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • Krishna Sharanam - 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Please Note: Mother's Day is a special opportunity for students to spend one-on-one time with their moms at school, so we request that alternate care arrangements be made for young siblings.

We look forward to seeing our moms here!

Teacher Appreciation Week

Dear Families,

It is that time of year again, when we get the opportunity to show our deepest gratitude for all the teachers! We all appreciate what the teachers have given our children this school year, from the academics to the spiritual guidance and not to mention the love and care, day after day. We couldn’t thank them enough.

As a token of our appreciation, we would like to do something special for all our teachers.

Teacher appreciation week starts Monday, May 2. We ask that each child bring the following items to school on the respective days for their teacher or teachers.

  • Monday - bring a flower
  • Tuesday - bring a fruit
  • Wednesday - a small note of appreciation.  It could be just one sentence.  Either from you or your child.
  • Thursday - bring a candy or a sweet
  • Friday - Either a quote from Srila Prabhupada, an inspirational verse, or a photo of a deity.

Please do not forget to make these days special for our most wonderful teachers during teacher appreciation week! Contact Adi Gopi Kohair at (313) 333-6961 or adigopi@hotmail.com if you have any questions.

Thank you for all your support.

Yours in service,

Bhaktivedanta Academy PTO

Bike Week 2016

Bhaktivedanta Academy's annual Bike Week starts this Monday, May 2, for students in Audarya Bhavan, Madhurya Bhavan, and Krishna Sharanam. To participate, students need to bring a bicycle in good working order and most importantly, a helmet. Please examine and test ride your child's bike before bringing it to school. In particular, check to make sure that:

  • tires are fully inflated and are not leaking air;
  • chain is not loose and remains on while riding;
  • brakes are working;
  • training wheels are removed;
  • seat is set to the appropriate height.

Please leave your child's bike and helmet when you drop them off on the Monday morning that bike week begins. The bikes will stay at school until Friday afternoon pick-up.

We are sorry, but we are not able to train students to ride a bicycle as part of Bike Week. Not all students are required to participate. They will stay back and have free play with other students until the riders return.
