Hiring - Upper Elementary Lead Teacher

The Bhaktivedanta Academy, a spiritually-centered pre-k thru 10th grade school, located in Alachua, Florida, is seeking applicants for the position of Upper Elementary Lead Teacher for our grade 4 - 6 Montessori class.

We are seeking qualified candidates who possess an enthusiasm for working with pre-adolescent children in a highly collaborative teaching environment. If you are a self-starter who wants to be part of a mission-driven school that provides an opportunity to grow personally and professionally, we encourage you to apply.

Bhaktivedanta Academy follows a 175 day school year with time off during summer and holidays. This is a salaried full-time position that will begin in August 2017.

Qualifications:

  • ISKCON member in good standing who is committed to his/her spiritual development.

  • BA or BS minimum (M.ED, preferred).

  • Montessori EL II certification (AMS) or willingness to attain.

  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience.

  • Able to pass local, state, and federal criminal background screenings.

  • Able to speak, read, and write English fluently.

  • US citizen or possess documentation of right to work in the US.

  • Current first aid and CPR certification preferred.

We are seeking qualified candidates who possess an enthusiasm for working with young children in a highly collaborative teaching environment. If you are a self-starter who wants to be part of a mission-driven school that provides an opportunity to grow personally and professionally, we encourage you to apply.

Bhaktivedanta Academy follows a 175 day school year with time off during summer and holidays. This is a full-time position that will begin in August 2017.

Qualifications:

  • ISKCON member in good standing who is committed to his/her spiritual development.

  • Knowledge of Montessori educational methodology or willingness to attain.

  • Prior experience working with young children in a classroom and/or daycare setting.

  • Completion of 40 clock-hour Introductory Child Care training preferred.

  • Able to pass local, state, and federal criminal background screenings.

  • Able to speak, read, and write English fluently.

  • US citizen or possess documentation of right to work in the US.

  • Current first aid and CPR certification preferred.

Notes and Reminders for Week of May 8

We hope you have had a nice weekend. Below are a few notes and reminders for the coming week:

Mother’s Day Correction
The May printed calendar and some of the Mother’s Day invite sheets in Friday folders had the incorrect date. Mother’s Day is Friday, May 12. Times are:

  • Bhakti Bhavan - 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
  • Audarya Bhavan - 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
  • Krishna Sharanam - 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
  • Madhurya Bhavan - 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

We apologize for any confusion.

Mascot Unveiling
We are happy to announce the Bhaktivedanta Academy’s lion mascot will finally be unveiled on Tuesday, May 9 in the morning at the New Raman Reti temple as part of the Lord Nrisimhadeva appearance day festivities. 

School Picture Orders
School pictures will be taken by Malika Visions Photography. Order forms we sent in Friday Folders. Forms are due to the office on Monday, May 8. Click here to download a copy of the form.

Uniform Orders
School uniform order forms have been sent out. Please submit the form only by Friday, May 12, so we can prepare the order and ensure timely delivery of uniforms from India. Click here to view the form.

School Library Books
All school library books are due by Monday, May 15. If your child has borrowed a book from the school library (will have BANA, Ncd, DDD, DL, Dhani Lorence or have a check or “LT” on the front cover) please return it.

End of Year Ceremonies
As we have continued to grow, we have had to adjust how we conduct large events. To make the end of year ceremony enjoyable and comfortable for everyone, we have split it into 3 parts:

  • Bhakti Bhavan - 8:30 a.m.
  • Audarya Bhavan and Madhurya Bhavan - 9:30 a.m.
  • Krishna Sharanam - 6:00 p.m.

On Thursday, June 1 students in Bhakti Bhavan, Audarya Bhavan, and Madhurya Bhavan are asked to arrive by 8 a.m. as usual. Students will be dismissed at the end of their respective ceremonies. Krishna Sharanam students will not attend school but are welcome to participate in ceremonies for their siblings.

Family Fun Day at Blue Springs
Our end of year family fun day is on Friday, June 2 at Blue Springs Park from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Park admission order forms will be going out this week. We do have our own pavilion but the park will be open to other visitors. Students in Krishna Sharanam will be going on their end of year trip to Wild Adventures.
